Washington announces that al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Kabul
Washington announced today, morning, the killing of al-Qaida leader “Ayman al-Zawahri” in a military operation targeted his location in Afghanistan.
US President Joe Biden said: t, and the operation was carried out in precision and success”. Biden pointed out that he gave the approval to kill al-Zawahri after the U.S. intelligence could locate him.
Biden added that “al-Zawahri moved to a home in the downtown Kabul to reunite members of his family”. Biden said “None of his family members was hurt, and there were no civilian casualties.”
Biden described the operation saying: “no matter how long it takes, no matter where you hide, if you are a threat to our people, the United States will find you and take you out.”
Biden continued, “we will never again allow Afghanistan to become a terrorist safe haven, and we will remain alert and do whatever to ensure the safety of Americans in the world.”
Al-Zawahiri was targeted on Sunday by a drone in an operation supervised by the US intelligence service in the capital, Kabul.
