Upcoming meeting between Putin and Erdogan to discuss the Syrian file
Moscow revealed yesterday, Tuesday, that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss many issues, including the Syrian crisis, during their meeting on Friday in the Russian city of Sochi.
“RT” website quoted the Russian presidential spokesman Demitry Peskov as saying: “Turkish President Erdogan will pay a working visit on Friday, and the two presidents will hold talks.”
Peskov made it clear that “the talks will address several issues such as bilateral relations and regional problems, including the economy, in addition to the situation in Syria and Ukraine.”
He added that “the meeting will also become an opportunity to measure the effectiveness of grain export mechanism from Ukrainian ports, in addition to exchange views on global affairs.”
The leaders of the guarantor states of the Astana process (Putin, Erdogan and the Iranian President) previously held a tripartite summit in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on July 19th. They issued the final statement in which they emphasized the leading role of the Astana process in the peaceful and sustainable settlement of the Syrian crisis.
