After excluding the Assad regime.. the Arab summit is on the scheduled date, and it is incorrect that the summit will be postponed
The Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed aboul Gheit said: “It was finally agreed to hold the Arab summit in Algeria at the beginning of next November.”
This announcement came in a press conference during the conclusion of the consultive meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo.
Aboul Gheit added: “It is incorrect that the summit will be postponed or transferred to another country, affirming that it will be held in the Algerian capital on the first and second of next November.”
The Secretary-General of the Arab League pointed out that the situation in Syria continues to suffer increasing stagnation in the wake of the escalating international polarization, with the fragility of the security situation and a serious deterioration in the economic and social conditions throughout the country.
It is noteworthy that the Secretary-General of the Syrian National Coalition, Haitham Rahma, praised the Arab efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar to prevent the return of the Assad regime to the Arab League. He also stressed the need to hand over Syria’s seat in the Arab League to the coalition as it is the legitimate representative of the Syrian people, in addition to the coalition’s participation in the League’s departments and committees.
