The National Coalition denounces Russia’s military escalation in northern Syria
The National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces said that “the terrorist organization led by Russia in Syria insists on destabilizing the northern liberated areas of Syria through its military escalation.”
The Coalition issued a statement on Wednesday, confirming that Russia continues targeting the towns and villages of Idleb countryside, where more than a million displaced people live in.”
The Coalition made it clear that the Russian forces bombed yesterday, Tuesday, with missiles an area crowded with displaced people near Kalbit village in northern Idleb countryside near the Turkish border, which resulted in civilian casualties.
The statement pointed out that the ongoing bombardment by Russian warplanes on the liberated areas coincided with the approach of the seventh anniversary of the Russian military aggression against Syria.
The statement considered that the ongoing Russian aggression against Syria is an indication of Russia’s systematic “brutality” towards civilians in the liberated areas, pointing out that the aggression is based on killings, bombing and destruction of infrastructure to paralyze civilian life in the liberated areas.
The statement added that the continued Russian targeting civilians and committing crimes against them, “confirm the lies and false claims of Russia to support the political solution in Syria.”
The Russian forces are still intensifying their airstrikes recently, targeting civilian areas and gatherings in the liberated areas in northern Syria.
