WHO provides financial support to the Assad regime in response to cholera outbreak
The WHO has provided the Assad regime’s Ministry of Health with financial support in response to the cholera outbreak in Syria.
Syria Relief said in a statement that” Norway will deliver a 60-ton shipment of oral rehydration solutions, rapid diagnostic tests, and medical supplies for intravenous rehydration treatment, in addition to chlorine for water purification.”
Syria Relief added the shipments, which will be transported by air from the WHO’s logistics center in Dubai, will enable the Assad regime’s Ministry of Health to provide treatment for 2,000 acute cholera cases and approximately 190,000 diarrhea cases with mild symptoms” .
The total number of cholera confirmed cases in Syria has reached 692 in various Assad regime-controlled areas, according to the Assad regime’s Ministry of Health.
While 40 deaths of cholera were recoded until yesterday, including 34 in Aleppo governorate.
