The British newspaper “Independent” has warned recently of cholera outbreak, threatening the lives of millions of people in Syria.
The newspaper has said that the collapse of healthcare systems in Syria poses a serious threat in light of a growing number of cholera cases to high levels.
The regions of northern and northeast Syria have recorded hundreds of cholera cases within weeks, especially in towns and villages near the Euphrates River in al-Hasakah, Deir Ezzor, and Aleppo.
The disease has recently spread through Idleb governorate, which is considered the most densely populated in Syria, where 5 million Syrians live in, most of them are displaced.
The World Health Organization has announced at the beginning of this month that more than 10,000 cholera confirmed cases had been recorded in Syria, since the cholera outbreak began in the country.
