US State Department: “We do not support rehabilitating the brutal dictator Bashar al-Assad”
US State Department Spokesman Ned Price said that Washington does not support rehabilitating the brutal dictator Bashar al-Assad. Washington supports with allies, partners and the United Nations ensuring a permanent political solution to the Syrian file.
Price added that Washington made it clear to all its allies and partners that now is not the right time to upgrade relations with the Assad regime, according to the American Alhurra TV.
Price “called on the countries to carefully think about the Assad regime’s atrocious human rights record over the past 12 years as it continues to inflict atrocities on the Syrian people and prevent the access of life-saving humanitarian aid.” The Syrian people are still suffering since 2011.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had announced earlier that it was possible to meet with Bashar al-Assad, affirming that nothing is impossible in politics.
