Cavusoglu renews his country’s support for the political process in Syria in accordance with Resolution 2254
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held on Friday several meetings in New York with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi and representatives of the Syrian and Muslim communities, at the end of his visit to the United States.
Cavusoglu tweeted that we have met with the representatives of the Syrian community, and we have renewed our support for the political process in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
Cavusoglu added that he discussed with his Indonesian counterpart the regional developments, including the situation in Afghanistan at the Turkish House in New York.
Cavusoglu had previously affirmed in a joint US-Turkish statement, following his meeting with his US counterpart Anthony Blinken on18 January 2023 in Washington, the commitment to the Syrian-led political process, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254. The two countries also planned to maintain coordination in “fighting terrorism”, especially the ISIS and the PKK.
