The Syrian Opposition Coalition released a statement expressing its gratitude to the countries that contribute to open the accountability file in Syria and hold Assad regime accountable.
The statement affirmed that the positions of these countries (Qatar, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, France and Germany) should accompanied by the measures which will bring justice to the Syrian people.
The statement pointed out that Assad regime was posing a threat to the Syrian people, now it has become a threat to the whole world by exporting drugs and its participation in Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The statement considered that holding the Assad regime accountable and getting rid of it will contribute to strengthening international peace and security and enhancing the global stability.
The statement called for implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2118 and imposing new sanctions and measures against the Assad regime under Chapter 7, due to its use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people.
The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons released a report on Friday, confirming the responsibility of the Assad regime for the chemical attack on Douma city in 2018, which claimed the lives of nearly 70 people, including women and children.
