The U.S. House of Representatives failed to adopt a resolution to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria in six months.
The Council warned that the withdrawal of troops could allow ISIS to re-engage and endanger the United States.
Only 103 MPs voted in favor of a document calling on US President Joe Biden to withdraw the US military from Syria, while 321 MPs voted against it, arguing that the decision could allow the dismantled state group to reorganise, putting the US and its allies at risk, according to the Associated Press.
Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz introduced a draft resolution to withdraw some 900 U.S. troops from Syria within 180 days, after four U.S. soldiers were wounded during a helicopter strike last month in northeastern Syria that killed a prominent ISIS commander.
