Postponing the quadripartite meeting in Moscow after the Assad regime placed conditions on its attendance
The meeting of deputy foreign ministers (Russia, Turkey, Iran and the Assad regime) on the Syrian settlement scheduled for Thursday has been postponed for technical reasons, NTV reported, according to official sources.
The sources noted the Assad regime’s success in obstructing the meeting, after establishing conditions for attending the meeting.
“The meeting that was scheduled for today was postponed for technical reasons, and the new date has not yet been set,” the channel said, citing its sources.
The meeting was scheduled to take place in Moscow on March 15-16.
Sources close to the Assad regime revealed that the latter had identified some demands for admission to the quadripartite ministerial meeting in the Russian capital Moscow.
The sources explained that Syria’s position remains the same until it obtains guarantees from Turkey regarding the withdrawal of Turkish forces from its territory and cease support from military factions in the north of Syria.”
