Guterres: The international community is far from reaching a solution in Syria
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Monday that the international community is far from reaching any political settlement in Syria.
Guterres considered that the recent conditions the international community is going through are far from finding a political solution to end the suffering of the Syrians, expressing his hope for a settlement between all parties.
Guterres emphasized that Syria is divided today. There are many countries and armies in it, and they have different interests related to Syria.
Guterres called on all parties concerned with Syrian affairs to reach an agreement, especially the Syrians, considering that failure to agree would make the Syrian people a playground for the activities of others.
Guterres expressed his regret that the rescue teams did not enter northwestern Syria after the earthquake, as happened in Turkey, admitting the failure of the UN organization.
It is noteworthy that the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, said earlier that the situation in Syria is “very difficult,” and its continuation is contrary to logic and humanity.
