A new round of talks in Turkey after the failure of the quadripartite meeting in Moscow and the intransigence of the Assad regime on its terms
After the quadripartite meeting in Moscow failed to make any progress, the Russian Foreign Minister will hold a round of discussions with Turkish officials today and tomorrow on a visit previously announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova.
The Russian Foreign Minister will visit Turkey today, at his Turkish counterpart’s invitation, and will examine a number of issues, first of all bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, energy and tourism.
In the consultations in Moscow, the deputy foreign ministers (Russia, Iran, Syria and Turkey) discussed preparations for a quadripartite ministerial meeting, while informed sources said the meeting had not reached any results.
The failure of the quadripartite meeting confirmed statements by the head of the Assad regime’s delegation that the meeting had not reached any results, while the Assad regime had intransigently put conditions on Turkey to accept normalization and communication.
