Pedersen discusses the political solution in Syria with the Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister
The Saudi Foreign Ministry tweeted on Sunday that its Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a telephone call from United Nations envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen. They discussed during the telephone call the developments in efforts to reach a political solution in Syria.
The two sides confirmed that “the political solution in Syria ensures the security and stability of the Syrian people and achieves the safe return of the Syrian refugees abroad according to the relevant international resolutions.
They also discussed during the telephone call the most prominent developments in the regional and international arenas and the efforts made to achieve the international peace and stability.
The UN envoy’s telephone call with the Saudi foreign minister comes after the Arab foreign ministers decided on May 7, 2023, to resume the participation of Assad regime’s delegations in the meetings of the Arab League Council, and all its affiliated organizations and agencies after about 12 years of freezing its membership.
Bashar al-Assad received last Wednesday an invitation from Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz to participate in the upcoming Arab League summit in Jeddah.
