Erdogan, Kilicdaroglu and Turkish politicians cast their votes in the presidential elections run-off
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife, Emine Erdogan cast their vote on Sunday in the presidential elections run-off.
Erdogan went to the polls in skudar district on the Asian side of Istanbul and said after casting his vote that “The people will choose their president, and the winning process will be quick.”
Turkish presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu, leader of the opposition Republican People’s Party, cast his vote in Ankara, and said he appealed to citizens to head to the polls “for the true democracy we want.”
Political parties’ leaders in Turkey cast their votes, and most of them voted in Ankara, while President Erdogan cast his vote in Istanbul.
“We cast our vote in an important election for all of us. I hope it will benefit our country and our nation,” the Good Party (İYİ Parti) leader Meral Akşener said after casting her vote in Istanbul.
The Nationalist Movement Party leader, Devlet Bahçeli, who is allied with Erdogan, voted and said in a brief statement, “The Turkish nation is going through a new stage of maturity.”
Former presidential candidate Sinan Ogan cast his vote in the elections, days after announcing his support for President Erdogan in the run-off. Ogan said that he hoped “these elections will bring stability to our country, and will be for the benefit of our country and our nation.” The presidential elections run-off begins on Sunday between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his rival, Kemal Kilicdaroglu. The results are expected to be announced early, according to Turkey’s Supreme Elections Committee.
