Turkish Defense Minister: Our priority is to fight terrorism to preserve our border security with Syria
The newly appointed Turkish Defense Minister, Yaşar Güler, said on Monday that “his country will continue to fight all terrorist organizations which are exist in Syria and Iraq that threaten the security and stability of the country.”
This statement came in the ceremony of taking the reins of the defense ministry from his predecessor Hulusi Akar in Ankara.
Güler added that “we will continue to preserve the country’s border security at the highest level through the current measures taken day after day by eliminating all the terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq.
Güler pointed out that in the coming days we will equip and develop the Turkish forces by delivering them modern military systems and equipment that will increase their capacity and efficiency in the combat operations they carry out against terrorist organizations.
Güler expressed his gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for appointing him to this significant post, and that “his main priority is to eliminate terrorism with resolve and determination and we will not stop even for a moment.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced last Saturday the formation of his new cabinet for his new five-year term.
