Over a million Syrians received the cholera vaccine in Northwest Syria as part of cholera vaccination campaign, which was launched 10 days ago.
The medical personnel finished vaccinating 1,119,799 people within the campaign conducted in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).
The campaign particularly targeted the residents of camps, including children and young people in Northwest Syria.
One thousand and 870 volunteers participated in the campaign, which was on June 10 until June 20, taking place in the countryside of Aleppo and Idleb governorates.
The first vaccination campaign took place last March in earthquake-hit areas of northwest Syria, 8 months after the disease appeared, prompting health authorities and local residents to accuse the World Health Organization of failing to provide the vaccine.
Cholera disease infected tens of thousands, in addition to the death of more than 100 people, according to health authorities’ data in the region.
