Bogdanov: The issue of Syrian refugees is complex and requires an international effort to solve it
Russian president’s special representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, affirmed that “the issue of Syrian refugees is complex and requires an international effort,” Bogdanov stated in an interview published by al-Arabiya news channel.
Bogdanov made it clear that “the issue of refugees is connected to the economic situation and the reconstruction of destroyed homes, in addition to an international desire and elimination the terrorist presence in Syrian territories.”
Bogdanov expressed his hope that “Assad regime’s return to the Arab League will contribute to find a solution to the Syrian crisis and returning the refugees to their country”, “adding that Assad regime’s participation in the Jeddah summit is an “important and positive” step”.
Bogdanov considered that “the presence of the United States in Syria is illegitimate.” The US also used the claim of fighting terrorism as a pretext to justify its presence in east Euphrates and southern Syria in al-Tanf area for its economic importance.”
Bogdanov pointed out that the US troops support the Kurdish factions and represent a violation of the Syria’s territorial integrity.
Bogdanov stated that Moscow hopes that mediation between Turkey and the Assad regime will lead to the normalization of relations between the two countries.
