The Syrian Coalition: The international community must intervene immediately to halt Assad regime’s attack on Idleb city
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) said in a statement: “The United Nations, its UN Security Council, and the international community, including our allies and stakeholders, must intervene immediately and urgently to halt Assad regime’s escalation of bombardment on Idleb city and Aleppo countryside.”
The statement added: “The violent bombardment campaign carried out by the Assad regime has so far resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries. It also forced civilians out of their homes to less dangerous areas due to deliberately targeting them with incendiary and destructive weapons.”
The statement pointed out that Assad regime’s shelling on medical centers and main hospitals in Idleb city is a war crime and Assad must be held accountable.
The statement mentioned that “the ongoing military escalation, missile attacks, and Assad regime’s use the internationally banned weapons directly threaten the life of more than 4 million civilians and cause a rise in displacement.”
Assad regime forces and Russia continue their missile and artillery shelling on town and cities of Idleb and Aleppo provinces. They have been using incendiary and cluster weapons, which are internationally banned, missile launchers and artillery shells since last Friday to retaliate targeting a military college graduation ceremony in Homs city. No party has claimed the responsibility for the attack until now.
