Israel: Targeting Aleppo and Damascus airports are messages directed to Iran and the Hezbollah militia
Israeli researcher Yoav Stern confirmed that the “three strikes on Aleppo and Damascus airports during the 48 hours represent messages deep inside Syria, but the strikes actually directed west towards Lebanese Hezbollah militia and east towards Iran.”
Stern made it clear that Israel wanted to deliver a message that it ready for confrontation and it is possible to do so.
Stern said: “Syria has become a regional playing field as it was Lebanon before, and the Assad regime is not important, as it does not constitute a threat in itself.”
Stern added: “The strikes on Syrian airports during the 48 hours come at a sensitive time due to the sensitivity of the situation, and their aim was first to obstruct the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Syria.”
Stern pointed out that it seems to be preparations in Syria to receive Iranian aid, including equipment and ammunition, although the strikes aim to obstruct its delivery via Iranian aircraft, there is also another goal that leads beyond that.
The Aleppo International Airport in northern Syria was subjected to the first strike on Friday coinciding with hitting Damascus International Airport, putting them out of service.
