Saudi Arabia announces its support for the participation of Assad regime delegations in Arab League meetings
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced on December, 28, 2023, that the Kingdom backs the Arab League’s decision to resume the participation of Assad regime delegations in the meetings of the League Council.
He added at the inauguration of the fourth year of the eighth session of the Shoura Council, that his country supports the outcomes of the previous Arab summit held in Jeddah city.
He also expressed his hope that the outcomes of the summit will contribute to support and stabilize Syria and finding an urgent solution for the Syrian crisis, in addition to voluntary return of the Syrian refugees, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The member states of the Arab League confirmed the final declaration of the Arab Summit in Jeddah, last May 19, and affirmed their concern for the security and stability of Syria and its Arab identity, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
It is noteworthy that the Arab League issued on last May 7th, a decision for Assad regime’s return to occupy Syria’s seat in the league, after suspending its membership since 2011 due to the crimes it committed against the Syrian people.
