“The National Interest” magazine: The position of US and the international community regarding Assad regime’s crimes in Syria is misleading
“The National Interest” magazine said “The position of the United States and the international community regarding Assad regime’s crimes in Syria was misleading and had many consequences.
The magazine confirmed that there is an urgent need to set a wiser and more principled US foreign policy concerning the Syrian crisis.
The magazine made it clear that the success of the Assad regime and its Russian and Iranian allies, along with the Lebanese “Hezbollah” militia, to keep a government (the Assad regime) that committed crimes against humanity that the world did not move to stop, has turned into a precedent resonating everywhere.
The magazine pointed out that the United States and the United Nations are currently calling for an ethically and neutral method to end the violence in Syria.
The magazine stated that the lives of Syrians have turned into hell, because the “weakness” of Washington and the international community has opened the door wide to extremist groups that aspire to snatch the Syrian revolution or defend the Assad regime.
The magazine pointed out that Bashar al-Assad got benefit from the “de-escalation zones” plan to achieve victories in north-west Syria, indicating that the US administration’s plans included neglecting the Syrians and other oppressed peoples to the greatest extent.
The magazine also pointed out that “When peaceful protests erupted at the beginning of 2011, the Assad regime arrested and tortured teenagers and shot the demonstrators.”
