Israeli airstrikes targeted on Wednesday, 21 February 2024, the residential neighborhoods in Kafar Sousseh region in Damascus city.
According to SANA news agency, the Israeli aircrafts targeted a residential building in Kafar Sousseh in the Syrian capital, Damascus, killing three people and injuring others.
The targeted area includes residential buildings, schools, and Iranian cultural centers. It also located near a big compound highly secured and used by the security services.
SANA pointed out that the shelling led to the death of at least two people in an initial toll, while the local “Sawt Al-Asimah” website confirmed that the shelling resulted in the death of three people and the injury of eight others.
Assad regime have not commented until now on the Israeli shelling that targeted the region.
Media sources close to Iran reported that the Israeli bombing was carried out with four missiles, and the injured people were taken to hospitals nearby.
Other sources confirmed that the targeted apartment was previously used by members of the “Iranian advisory team” present in Syria.
The same area was subjected to an Israeli attack about a year ago, which led to the killing of Iranian military experts.
The Kafar Sousseh neighborhood is considered one of the upscale neighborhoods in Damascus, and includes a number of intelligence branches and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Assad regime, in addition to the “Presidential Building.” It is also close to the Mezzeh neighborhood, which includes the Iranian embassy building.
Damascus frequently subjected to shelling on residential buildings in Damascus by occupying Israeli warplanes, which often include Iranian officers, experts, and Iran-backed and funded militia commanders in Syria.
