US Congress Member: The Anti-Normalization Act targets Bashar al-Assad and his wife
Republican member of the US House of Representatives Joe Wilson said: ‘The Assad Regime Anti-Normalization Act is a historic legislation that guarantees the strict implementation of the Caesar Act sanctions.”
Wilson added in an interview with “Al-Quds al-Arabi” newspaper: “These historic legislations are directly informed both Bashar al-Assad and his wife Asmaa that the United States will directly target them along with their funders and supporters.”
Wilson, the presenter of the bill, considered that normalization with the Assad regime means normalization with death and corruption.
A member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the US House of Representatives, French Hill, confirmed that the Anti-Normalization Act is a clear message indicating that the US Congress does not support normalization with the Assad regime.
The US House of Representatives approved the Assad regime Anti-Normalization Act with 389 votes in favor and 32 votes against.
The bill stipulates for expanding the Caesar Act, which has imposed harsh sanctions on the Assad regime since 2020, and imposed sanctions on countries that allow the regime’s airline to use their airports.
