The Syrian Negotiation Committee expresses its desire to hold the Constitutional Committee Meeting in Riyadh
The head of the Syrian Negotiation Committee (SNC), Bader Jamous, affirmed that the SNC desires to convene the upcoming meeting of the Constitutional Committee in the Saudi Capital, Riyadh, and that the UN special envoy to Syria should talk with Saudi Arabia about its desire to host the meeting.
Jamous made it clear that “it is more appropriate for the UN envoy to talk first with Saudi Arabia about its desire to host the Constitutional Committee Meetings before submitting this proposal.”
Jamous added that the SNC will be honored to hold the constitutional meetings in Riyadh, which represents the heart of the Arab and has supported the Syrian people since the first day of the revolution.”
Jamous stated that “At the beginning of the negotiations, when there was a rejection of Geneva, I as a head of the SNC, proposed to the United Nations and informed the brothers in Saudi Arabia of our desire to hold the meetings in Riyadh, especially since the negotiation Committee was formed in Riyadh, and the Riyadh Conference 1 and the Riyadh Conference 2, Then the special envoy suggested Nairobi, and we agreed to that, and now he suggested Geneva, and we agreed to that as well.”
It is noteworthy that the UN envoy had submitted during his meetings in Damascus a proposal that the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, be the venue for these meetings, and this could happen if he obtains the approval of all parties.
