NGOs call on all parties to end the conflict in Northeast Syria
22 NGOs in Syria Democratic Forces-held areas in northeastern Syria called on all parties to the conflict to cease hostilities in the region.
The NGOs said in a joint statement: “It is necessary to find a sustainable solution, neutralize the civilians living in the region from military actions, and ensure their return to their homes.”
The statement added: “The hostilities in populated areas in Deir Ezzor have caused since August 4, 2024, the killing of more than 100 people, most of them are civilians, including high numbers of children and women.”
The statement pointed out: “The failure of mediation efforts to reach a clear and long-term settlement for a Syrian comprehensive solution portends a renewing bombardment following the relative calm during the past few days.”
The statement called on political parties close to the various military parties to be aware and abandon hate speech to stop the fighting between cousins, and not to be dragged into endless regional and global conflicts.
The NGOs urged in their statement the United Nations to do everything in power to stop the escalation in eastern Syria, secure conducive conditions for the return of internally displaced families, and document evidence against those who directed guns at civilian homes.
