The International Coalition confirms that its forces will not withdraw from Syria
The International Coalition announced, at the Ministerial Meeting of the International Coalition in Washington, “that its forces to fight ISIS will not withdraw from Syria and will not shift its focus from it.”
The US deputy envoy to the international coalition, Ian Macari, said in a statement: “The coalition will maintain the power to exert greater pressure on ISIS members in the regions of northern and eastern Syria.”
Macari added: “The file of ISIS detainees in the region is a major priority for the coalition, which will continue to work to return them to their country in safe conditions.”
Macari expressed his concern over the possibility of Islamic State’s return to appear in Syria, despite the losses it suffered, if we do not focus on fighting it.”
Macari stressed at the conclusion of his speech that “The only way in Syria is to reach a political solution in accordance with International Resolution 2254.”
