Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman al-Safadi, delivered a message from the Jordanian king, Abdullah II, to Bashar al-Assad that includes multiple solutions to the Syrian crisis and addressing all its repercussions, in addition to many issues related to the region.
Al-Safadi discussed with Bashar al-Assad the recent and dangerous developments in the region, the bilateral relations between the two countries and the ways to enhance them, and the issue of the return of Syrian refugees.
Al-Safadi affirmed that his country is doing everything in its power regarding the issue of the return of Syrian refugees, and it is supporting the stability and recovery in Syria which is in the interest of the region in general.
Bashar al-Assad said: “securing the requirements of the safe return of Syrian refugees is a priority for Syria as it has already made a progress in the measures to help the voluntary return.”
Al-Safadi held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Assad regime Bassam Al-Sabbagh. The talks focused on resolving the Syrian crisis and combating drug smuggling. Al-Safadi stressed that drug smuggling remains a threat that Amman continues to confront.
The two ministers stressed the need for the international community to act immediately to cease the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon and the dangerous escalation against the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank and to end the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the aggression.
Sources reported that the unscheduled visit of the Jordanian Foreign Minister came due to the escalation in the region and the Arab role required of Damascus to avoid the expansion of the war, as well as finding a solution to the political impasse in Syria.
