Assad regime targets civilians attempting to lift the siege on Al-Rukban camp
Local sources reported that “a number of civilians sought to bring medicines and food into Al-Rukban camp, but their attempt failed as Assad regime besieging the camp directly fired and injured a number of them.”
The sources said: “the aim of the attempt is to provide the children inside the camp with necessary medicines and milk in light of the siege that worsens the humanitarian situation and makes the access to basic care almost impossible.”
The sources added that “Assad regime’s attack resulted in the destruction of vehicles used by civilians, in addition to explosions of many mines that were planted in the region.”
It is noteworthy that Assad regime forces and Iranian militias imposed a stifling blockade on Al-Rukban camp, amid the efforts of the Assad regime, Russia, and Iran to crack down on residents there and force them to surrender themselves by returning to the Assad regime-held areas, which has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the camp.
