Turkish security sources: The “Deterrence of Aggression” operation occurs within the de-escalation zone

Reuters news agency quoted Turkish security sources as saying: “The Deterrence of Aggression” operation launched by the Syrian revolutionary factions towards the countryside of Aleppo and Idleb took place within the de-escalation area in Idleb agreed by Russia, Iran and Turkey in 2019.

The sources said: “The limited operation planned by the opposition groups expanded as the Assad forces began fleeing their sites. This operation came as a response to Assad regime’s attacks on the region.”

The sources added: “Ankara is closely pursuing the latest movements of the revolutionary factions in northern Syria, and it has taken all the precautions to ensure the safety of the Turkish forces there.”

The Syrian revolutionary factions launched on November 27, 2024, the” Deterrence of Aggression” operation making significant progress in western Aleppo countryside and eastern Idleb countryside during only two days as they had taken control of 32 strategic villages and points with 245 square kilometers area.

The revolutionary factions had captured many villages, including Al-Hota, Orem Al-Kubra, Ainjara, Regiment 46, Qubatan Al-Jabal and others in the western Aleppo countryside, and the village of Dadikh and its hill, and the village of Jubas and Kafr Batikh in the eastern Idleb countryside. This operation is the first breach of the contact lines since the ceasefire agreement in March 2020.

The “Al-Fath Al-Mubin” Room said, “This operation aims to break the enemy’s plans by directing a calculated pre-emptive strike against the positions of his militias.”
