The Syrian government officially takes over the management of four border crossings with Turkey
The Syrian transitional government announced that it took over the management of four border crossings in northern and eastern Aleppo countryside after agreement with the Turkish side.
This announcement came after a meeting between the head of General Authority for Land and Sea Ports and a delegation of representatives of the Turkish government.
The director of relations at the General Authority for Lands and Sea Ports, Mazen Alloush, said that the crossings that were handed over, including Jarablus, al-Rai, Bab al-Salama, and al-Hammam and they began operating from yesterday, Saturday, under the full management of the Syrian government.
Alloush added that al-Rai border crossing with Turkey began operating yesterday, Saturday, days after its closure, to hand over its management to the authorities of the new Syrian administration.
The crossing was supervised by the “Syrian Interim Government” before it was handed over to authorities affiliated with the caretaker government in Damascus.
It is noteworthy that the “Syrian Interim Government” officially opened the al-Rai crossing north of Aleppo in December 2017, after consultations with the Turkish side.
