A Turkish charity organization sends humanitarian aid to the refugee camps in Idlib
Yesterday, Monday, the Turkish charitable organization Bashir announced that it was sending humanitarian aid to the displaced in Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria.
In the statement, the association stated that it had sent aid that included tents, clothes, food, fuel, heaters and cleaning supplies for those affected by the torrential rains in the Idlib camps.
The statement quoted the association’s coordinator in Syria, Muhammad Arslan, that many of the displaced persons’ tents have become unusable due to the rain, adding that they have provided families with new tents and other aid.
At the end of last December, the Turkish Association sent three trucks loaded with aid to the needy in Idlib, which included 650 heaters, 50 tons of charcoal, and food supplies.
During the past years, millions of civilians were displaced after the Assad regime and Russia bombed their cities to areas close to the Turkish-Syrian border, where hundreds of thousands of families were forced to live in tents after they were unable to secure their homes.
Since the beginning of this January, torrential rains have hit the camps of displaced people in Idlib countryside, causing mud-filled pools to form and damage to tents.
The aforementioned camps suffer from a lack of infrastructure, as well as turning into puddles from mud during the winter, as the tents begin to leak rainwater after their fabrics are worn out due to the summer heat.
