The Syrian Network documents the civilian deaths due to the ongoing war in Syria for the year 2020
The Syrian Network for Human Rights said, in a report yesterday, Tuesday, that it has documented 1734 deaths and the displacement of more than 850,000 people, as a result of the ongoing war in Syria during the year 2020.
The report added that among the dead, 326 children and 169 women were killed by the parties to the conflict, and more than 850,000 were displaced, most of them displaced as a result of the military operations of the Assad regime and Russian forces in the southern countryside of Idlib and Aleppo.
The report explained that, during the year 2020, the Assad regime and the Russian forces supporting it killed more than 643 civilians, including 141 children and 78 women.
The report emphasized that the “Islamic State” organization killed 47 civilians, including 11 and 7 children, indicating that “the opposition factions killed 27 civilians, including 9 children and four women,” thr report said.
According to the Syrian Network’s report, the Syrian Democratic Forces have killed 63 civilians, including 11 children and three women, and 7 others were killed by the international coalition.
Meanwhile, the report held the National Army factions responsible for killing 27 civilians, including 9 children and 4 women, while 947 civilians, including 162 children, and 83 women were killed at the hands of other parties.
The report continued, “The number of arbitrarily arrested persons during the past year reached nearly 1882 cases, 908 of which were at the hands of the regime forces, 481 at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces, 347 at the hands of the opposition factions, and 146 by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.”
The report pointed out that 157 people were killed under torture last year, 130 of them in the prisons of the regime forces and its security services, and 14 at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
Regarding the attacks on vital centers, the report confirmed that the Assad regime and Russian forces attacked more than 362 vital centers, and four at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The report added, “13 medical personnel were killed, including 3 at the hands of the regime forces, 4 at the hands of Russian forces, 1 at the hands of for the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, and 5 at the hands of other parties,” as he put it.
According to the report, 850,000 people have been displaced after their homes were subjected to artillery and air strikes, due to the recent military campaign of the Assad regime and Russian forces in the region.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights previously documented the killing of 13,278 civilians, and the arrest of 18,600 others, by the Syrian regime forces during the past four years.
The Syrian network added that it submitted its report on the human rights violations committed by the Assad regime in Syria between August 2016 and August 2020, to the United Nations Human Rights Committee.
