More than 226 civilians were injured following clashes between demonstrators and “riot control” members in Lebanon
More than 226 civilians were injured yesterday, Wednesday, after clashes with riot police and the Lebanese army, after a demonstration calling for improvement of the conditions in the Lebanese city of Tripoli.
The “National News” agency said: “The Lebanese Army forces have pushed military reinforcements to the main Al-Nour Square in the city of Tripoli, after they came out calling for improvement of economic and living conditions in Lebanon.
The source added that bloody protests took place between the demonstrators and the Lebanese army, resulting in dozens of injuries on both sides.
Some young demonstrators threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the security forces, according to the “National News” agency, adding that the security forces were attacked with grenades, which resulted in 9 injuries among their members.
Living and economic conditions continue to decline dramatically in recent times, which results in popular demands and demonstrations in some Lebanese regions.
