Corona file official in northern Syria: The first batch of Corona vaccine includes 54,000 doses
Medical sources in northwestern Syria revealed the arrival of the first shipment of the vaccine designated for the “Corona” virus, today, Wednesday, through Bab al-Hawa border crossing, under the supervision of the “World Health Organization”, and representatives of health organizations operating in the region.
In an exclusive interview with Fresh Online, Hussam Karah Muhammad says that coordination between organizations has been made to exchange the necessary data for the people, but the mechanism for implementing the vaccine will be through the “Syria Vaccine Team” and the Idlib Health Directorate.
Karah Muhammad added: “The first batch of the vaccine, including 54,000 vaccines, will enter from the Bab al-Hawa crossing into the fully liberated areas of northwest Syria, to be followed by several batches.”
He continued, “The first batches of the vaccine will be allocated to workers in health institutions, the second category of the vaccine targeting the elderly and patients later, according to the batches that will reach the region.”
The Ministry of Health in the Syrian Interim Government has previously confirmed that it is coordinating with all relevant partners, the most important of which is UNICEF, the World Health Organization, and the Syria Vaccine Team, for the arrival of the Corona vaccine in April 2021, while awaiting approval of the general plan by the Kovacs initiative.
