An American report reveals new details about the killing of Qassem Soleimani
A report by the American Yahoo News revealed new details about the plan to kill the commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, which took place on January 3, 2020, based on interviews with 15 current and former US officials.
The American site Yahoo News stated in its report that 3 teams of US special forces “Delta Force” were hiding in old buildings or vehicles on the side of the road near Baghdad International Airport, waiting for “Soleimani”, disguised as maintenance workers.
The report added that the night the operation was carried out, the southeastern side of Baghdad airport was closed within a short time to conduct military exercises, or so the Iraqi government was informed.
According to the report, the three sniper teams were stationed from 600 to 900 yards from the area where the killing was carried out, and that one of the snipers had a telescope equipped with a camera that transmitted what was happening directly to the US embassy in Baghdad, where the commander of “Delta Force” was stationed
“With support staff.
The operation was carried out with the help of members of the Counterterrorism Group (CTG), an elite Kurdish unit in northern Iraq with deep ties to US Special Operations.
According to a US military official, the six hours before Qassem Soleimani boarded the plane in Damascus from which he came to Baghdad, he switched his mobile phone three times, and that communications officers belonging to the US Joint Special Operations Command with their Israeli counterparts worked to help track Qassem Soleimani’s phones.
The Israelis, who had access to Qassem Soleimani’s numbers, passed them on to the Americans, who tracked the location of the phones until they reached Baghdad.
The report indicated that the incoming flight from Damascus landed after midnight on the third of January 2021, several hours behind the scheduled date.
A Kurdish operative disguised as a ground crew directed the plane to stop at the airport runway, and when the target “Soleimani” got off the plane, members of the Kurdish counterterrorism group who pretended to be luggage carriers were present to identify him and verify his identity.
After that, “Soleimani” and his accompanying delegation took two cars to leave the airport, where “Delta Force” snipers were waiting, and three American drones flew over the area, two of which were armed with “Hellfire” missiles.
According to Yahoo News, the two cars moved to the area where the killing took place, and the drone operators fired at the convoy, and two “Hellfire” missiles fell on Qassem Soleimani’s car, destroying it, while the driver of the second car tried to escape, as he traveled a distance.
About 100 yards away before a Delta Force sniper fired at the car, it stopped at once before a third missile hit it, splitting it into pieces.
