The Daily Telegraph: Young Syrians plan to migrate and are not interested in “elections”
The British Daily Telegraph newspaper mentioned in a report that Syrian youth are planning to leave Syria to escape unemployment, and that they do not care about the “presidential elections” scheduled to be held by the Assad regime.
The newspaper indicated in its report that many young people do not think about politics or how to vote, but rather are planning to escape unemployment and lack of fuel and food, which it said is unbearable.
The newspaper added that the Assad regime wants to present the elections as a return to normal life, after a decade of war, but the disintegration of the country, external sanctions and the crisis in Lebanon caused the collapse of the economy, noting that there is a new wave of the middle class hoping to flee despite attempts to prevent them from the regime.
And deterred them from European countries.
The exit towards Europe is no longer easy. After the year 2015, which witnessed asylum applications for more than 387,000 Syrians in Europe, European countries have increased their strictness.
Recent studies have shown that 90% of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt do not intend to return to Syria in the next year, even if they are not able to secure the basic needs in the host countries.
The Assad regime will organize the “presidential elections” that the Syrians described as theatrical, on the 26th of this month, despite the continuing tragic situation of the Syrian people, and the Assad regime aims to organize these “elections”, to delude local, regional and international public opinion in returning life to normal.
