The Early Warning Network records 185 new infections with the Coronavirus in northwestern Syria
Today, Monday, the Early Warning and Epidemic Response Network of the Support Coordination Unit announced the registration of 185 new infections with the Corona virus in northwestern Syria.
The network indicated that the new cases were distributed as follows: 98 in Aleppo countryside and 87 in Idlib governorate, noting that the total number of infections in northwestern Syria rose to 24,165 infections.
The Alert Network stated that it conducted 712 new analyzes, bringing the total of analyzes in the governorates of Idlib and Aleppo to 141,328 analyzes, noting that 142 cases of recovery from the virus were recorded, bringing the total recovery cases to 20,978 cases.
Last Saturday, the Response Coordinators Group in Syria had warned against turning the camps for the displaced Syrians in northwestern Syria into a center for the spread of the Corona virus if the high rate of registration of infections for the displaced continues.
The Group pointed out that the population density is very high inside the camps, in addition to the lack of hygiene and inadequate sanitary conditions, which pose a great threat to the safety of the displaced.
The statement urged all humanitarian organizations to urgently ensure prevention, treatment and control of the spread of the virus within the camps.
The Group called on the international community and international institutions based on humanitarian work in northwestern Syria to intervene more through financial and logistical support for organizations operating in northwestern Syria.
