US Adviser: The Syrian file will be present during the upcoming meeting between Biden and Erdogan
Yesterday, Monday, US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan confirmed that the Syrian file will be present during the first meeting of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with his American counterpart Joe Biden.
“The two leaders will have a broad and comprehensive agenda on regional issues such as the eastern Mediterranean, Syria, Iran and Nagorno-Karabakh,” Sullivan said about the upcoming meeting between Biden and Erdogan.
He indicated that the two presidents will also discuss controversial issues between the two countries during their meeting, and look forward to seizing this opportunity to review relations in all its aspects, adding: “President Biden knows President Erdogan well, they spent a lot of time with each other.”
The Turkish and American presidents are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the NATO leaders’ summit in the Belgian capital, Brussels, on June 14.
The United States of America and Turkey agree on many files in Syria, such as the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2254 as a basis for a political solution, and the need for continued entry of humanitarian aid convoys, while the support provided by Washington to the Syrian Democratic Forces is the basis of the differences between the two countries in Syria.
Turkish President Erdogan considered, in a previous statement, that his meeting with his American counterpart will herald a new era in the relations of the two countries, pointing to the possibility of Washington and Ankara cooperation on a large scale in Syria and Libya, combating terrorism, energy and investments.
