Israeli raids target sites of the Assad regime forces in Damascus and Homs
On the night of Tuesday-Wednesday, Israeli warplanes targeted several sites of the Assad regime forces in the vicinity of Damascus and Homs, with air strikes.
The official news agency of the Assad regime, “SANA,” said: “Israeli bombing targeted military sites of the Assad regime’s forces in the central and southern regions of the country.”
The agency added that “the air defenses repelled an attack by Israeli planes from over Lebanese airspace, without mentioning the amount of losses and damages to the targeted sites.”
The raids coincided with an intense flight of Israeli warplanes over the border areas between Lebanon and Syria.
The raids are considered the first of their kind after the presidential elections held by the Assad regime on the twenty-sixth of last May.
The Israeli Prime Minister has stated in more than one occasion that his country will continue its attacks on Iranian militia sites in Syria, no matter what the cost.
According to media reports, Moscow asked Tel Aviv to stop its air raids on the military sites of the Assad regime forces during the presidential elections.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli army carried out a military operation last week, inside the Syrian borders, during which it managed to destroy a military point of the Assad regime forces in the Quneitra countryside, southwest of Syria.
