Biden: Fighting the Corona pandemic will be a constant project for a long time
US President Joe Biden said yesterday, Sunday, that helping the world fight the Corona pandemic would be a “steady project for a long time,” noting that “his country may donate to the world an additional billion doses of the Corona vaccine.”
Biden added, during a press conference at the conclusion of the Group of Seven meetings: “There is a clear consensus among the leaders, who attended the G7 summit, that the commitments they made to donate vaccines will not be final.”
The US President stressed during the conference that “despite the enormous logistical efforts to vaccinate everyone around the world, the goal may not be achieved until 2023.”
And the Group of Seven major industrialized countries “G7” announced yesterday that it will provide one billion doses of vaccine against the Corona virus, during the next year, half of these doses come from the United States (other than one billion additional doses).
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said during a press conference, “I called on my counterparts to help prepare and provide the necessary doses to vaccinate the world by the end of 2022,” adding: “The leaders of countries have pledged to provide more than one billion doses” through funding or the Kovacs mechanism.
The “Group of Seven” includes the 7 largest industrial countries in the world, which are the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada, Japan, France and Italy.
According to the “Worldometer” website, which specializes in monitoring Corona statistics, the death toll from Corona in the world, as of Sunday evening, reached 3 million and 813 thousand, and the injuries were more than 176 million and 553 thousand, and the recovery of 160 million and 559 thousand.
