Saudi Arabia.. Sunday the first of-Hijjah and Eid al-Adha Tuesday 20 July
Yesterday, Friday evening, Saudi Arabia announced that Sunday is the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah (the month of Hajj), and Eid al-Adha will be on Tuesday, July 20.
A statement issued by the Saudi Supreme Court stated, “Saturday is the complement of the thirtieth of Dhul-Qa’dah, and Monday, corresponding to July 19 (July), is the day of standing on Arafa,” according to the official Saudi Press Agency.
The statement explained that “the first day of Dhul-Hijjah will be Sunday, because it was not possible to see the crescent of his month, and Eid al-Adha, on July 20.”
Within days, the eyes of the Islamic world will turn to Makkah Al-Mukarramah, where the feelings of Hajj begin, and standing at Arafat is its most important manifestation and its greatest pillar.
Islamic countries used to follow Saudi Arabia in sighting the crescent of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, which is linked to the performance of the greatest religious pilgrimage to Muslims, and whose rituals embrace the territory of the Kingdom.
For the second year in a row, Saudi Arabia is holding the Hajj ritual with a limited number of only 60,000 from inside the Kingdom, in light of strict health controls for fear of the repercussions of “Corona”.
The year 1441 AH (2020 AD) witnessed an exceptional Hajj season, as a result of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, as the number of pilgrims at that time was limited to about 10,000 from inside Saudi Arabia, compared to about 2.5 million pilgrims, in 2019, from all over the world.
