The Central Committee reaches an agreement with the Assad regime to end the siege of Daraa Al-Balad
Yesterday, Saturday, the Assad regime reached an agreement with the “Central Committee” in which it ends the siege of Daraa al-Balad and imposes a number of conditions, including making a settlement and handing over part of the required weapons.
Abu Mahmoud al-Hourani, spokesman for the Houran Gathering, told Fresh: “The agreement stipulates the cessation of the military campaign and the opening of all roads leading to the neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad, within a maximum period of four days, starting from today, Sunday, in exchange for handing over a limited number of individual weapons.”
Al-Hourani added, “A settlement will be made for approximately one hundred young men wanted by the Assad regime from the residents of Daraa al-Balad neighborhood, who did not make a settlement in the summer of 2018, and the establishment of 3 military points in the neighborhood of Daraa al-Balad has not been identified, and it will be agreed upon between the security services and the Daraa al-Balad Committee.”
He added, “It was agreed to seize the weapons that are located between the local committees of the Military Security inside Daraa al-Mahatta, which arrest the residents of the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood, and apply the law against abusers, whatever their status.”
The Assad regime escalated its tone after the people of Daraa refused to hand over 200 weapons, imposing a siege on all neighborhoods of Daraa al-Balad since last June 24, and also threatened to allow Iranian militias to penetrate the area and demolish the Omari Mosque if the weapons were handed over.
