Al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper revealed that President Vladimir Putin’s envoy in Syria, officer “Alexander Zorin,” secretly visited the countryside of Daraa, days before the latest military escalation.

The newspaper stated that “Alexander Zorin” met with Ahmed al-Awda, the leader of the Fifth Corps in Busra al-Sham, who has been supported by the Russian Hmeimim base since its formation after the settlement agreement in mid-2018, and that he informed him that the Assad regime does not listen to Russian proposals for the necessity of a settlement in the south, and the exclusion of a military solution To enter Daraa al-Balad, which includes about 50,000 civilians.

According to the newspaper, the officer confirmed that Russia would not send its bomber aircraft to support the Assad regime’s operations and bombing of Daraa al-Balad, and the return from that understood that the solution is a settlement and not a military one. to repel any attack.

It is noteworthy that the Daraa governorate witnessed an attack by the Assad regime forces on the Daraa Al-Balad area, and the bombing of residential neighborhoods, and this is considered a violation of the settlement and reconciliation agreement, which was concluded in 2018 under the auspices of Russia, and tension had spread to most parts of the governorate.
