Biden administration intends to review the possibility of publishing classified documents related to the attacks of September 11, 2001
US officials intend to review confidential documents related to the attacks of September 11, 2001, after the demands of some relatives of the victims to consider the possibility of publishing information and facts about the attack and the parties responsible for it.
This new measure by US officials comes after they pledged on Monday to conduct a review of some documents related to the attack.
The procedure is considered the first of its kind in the United States of America during the era of the Biden administration, after the old administrations prevented taking such a measure to protect state secrets, as it claimed.
In a statement, US President Joe Biden welcomed the measure that the Department of Justice would take, saying: “His administration is committed to achieving the maximum degree of transparency under the law, and is committed to invoking the property of protecting state secrets.”
The FBI sent a letter to the Attorney General of the Southern District of New York after his decision to review his powers not to disclose some confidential documents and to identify and disclose additional information related to the attack.
