A Russian patrol to monitor the ceasefire is one of the solutions in Daraa
The Daraa Al-Balad Central Committee said that it had discussed with General Andrei, the Russian official on the file of southern Syria, the latest developments in Daraa Governorate, and the ceasefire.
The official spokesman for the committee, Adnan Al-Masalma, said that talks were held today, in the presence of a representative of the Russian side, a representative of the Assad regime, and representatives of Daraa’s central committees, and solutions to the crisis in the province were presented.
Al-Masalma posted on his Facebook account, that the main lines of the road map were presented, which includes a solution that includes the entire region, and begins two weeks after the continuation of the cease-fire.
During this period, there will be rounds of negotiation and discussion of forming a committee composed of the parties concerned with implementing the agreement to follow up on solving problems throughout the negotiation period.
Al-Masalma confirmed that they are waiting for a paper copy of the Russian side of the road map, to be viewed, discussed and delved into details, adding that a Russian patrol will be conducted in the vicinity of the city of Daraa to monitor the ceasefire and inspect the situation on the ground.
Sheikh Faisal Abazid, a member of the Central Committee, had confirmed that there are two projects in Daraa governorate, both of them are bad.The first is an Iranian project that seeks to change religion and belief, and another Russian project that seeks to control the land in agreement with countries.
Abazid indicated that accepting the Russian project is the least harmful at the present time, stressing that Daraa has no ability to engage in military confrontation and change the maps and balances of power, as he put it.
And the Russian “Sputnik” agency had revealed a Russian initiative that was put forward on Wednesday afternoon, as a last attempt for peaceful solutions to stop the escalation in Daraa governorate, talking about stopping military operations by Assad’s forces and militias in response to the aforementioned initiative, at a time when no official statement was issued by the concerned authorities about Daraa for reaching any agreement or initiative.
The sources pointed out that Russia’s proposal includes setting up a mechanism for a peaceful solution to the file of “armed men holed up” in the neighborhood (Daraa al-Balad), according to a specific timetable, and the Russian proposal is divided into several items and points, including the commitment of fighters in (Daraa al-Balad neighborhood) to hand over their weapons to the Assad regime inn compliance with the terms of the reconciliation agreement held under the auspices of Russia in 2018.
The Russian initiative also includes the exit of those who reject the agreement to the areas of northwest Syria, in addition to other technical provisions that guarantee the return of safety and stability to the neighborhood controlled by these factions.
