The United Nations: Israel purchased 5,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses from Russia for Assad regime
The “COVID-19 Data Explorer” of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs “OCHA” revealed the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses that Israel purchased from Russia for the Assad regime.
According to the “Data Explorer,” the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses that arrived from Israel to the Assad regime-held areas is 5,000 doses of the Russian “Sputnik V” type.
The United Nations Organization “OCHA” stated in a tweet on Twitter, that the poorest countries in the world do not have enough doses of Corona vaccine to cover even 5% of their population. At the same time, Syria only has a little more than 3 percent.
The Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, reported, last February, that Israel is funding the purchase of Sputnik V doses for Syria as part of the prisoner exchange deal with the Assad regime.
The newspaper quoted an Israeli source familiar with the entire negotiation process, that Russia had proposed, in order to improve the deal, that Israel would pay millions for doses of the Russian “Sputnik” vaccine.
According to a report on the “Tikun Olam” blog, the secret part of the exchange deal includes Israel paying 1.2 million dollars for doses of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine and giving the doses to the Assad regime.
