With the aim of donating one billion doses… Biden pledges to double the United States’ purchases of the Corona US President Joe Biden revealed the doubling of US purchases of Pfizer’s vaccines against the “emerging corona” virus (Covid-19), with the aim of donating more than one billion doses of vaccine to the world.
The Associated Press said: “The commitment of the United States is the cornerstone of the global vaccine summit, which Biden held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, during which he urged rich countries to do more to control the virus.”
“We need more high-income countries to make ambitious vaccine donations, fulfill their pledges to poor countries, and provide them without political restrictions,” Biden stressed.
He added: “During the summit that brought together the head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, along with the leaders of Canada, Britain, Indonesia and South Africa, to beat the epidemic here, we need to beat it everywhere.”
Biden adopts the goal of vaccinating 70% of the world’s population within the next year, and the United States will raise its total commitment to vaccination to more than 1.1 billion doses until 2022.
The United States provided about 160 million doses that were distributed to more than 100 countries, which exceeds the number of vaccines donated by the rest of the world combined, according to the agency.
