Meetings of the Syrian opposition delegation to discuss the Syrian file
The joint delegation of the Syrian National Coalition and the Syrian negotiation committee held extensive meetings with the delegations of Arab and foreign countries in the United States to discuss the Syrian file on the sidelines of the General Assembly meetings.
The coalition delegation met with the “Danish mission to the United Nations and the European Union mission to the United Nations, and the joint delegation provided an explanation of the field situation in Syria, and the continued ground and air bombardment by the Assad regime and its supporters on the liberated areas without any respect for the de-escalation agreements.”
The joint delegation stressed the need to provide political support to the Syrian people in order to achieve a political transition in accordance with international resolutions, foremost of which is the Geneva Communiqué and Resolutions 2118 and 2254, and stressed that humanitarian aid is not a sufficient way to solve the humanitarian catastrophe in Syria.
The joint delegation warned of the danger of the normalization steps taken by some countries with the Assad regime.
The Deputy Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs in the Danish mission stressed that the Syrian issue can only be resolved by applying international resolutions, especially 2254, and the parties’ involvement in a real political process, expressing his hope that an agreement will be reached on holding a new round of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.
While the European Union mission to the United Nations stressed its important role in the Syrian issue at the political and humanitarian level, stressing that it is unacceptable to start financing reconstruction before the implementation of international resolution 2254 and the achievement of a full political transition in Syria.
The joint delegation pointed out that the sanctions imposed on the Assad regime should not be lifted or eased before the implementation of international resolutions, especially Resolution 2254, and the completion of the political transition. coercion, which threatens their lives.
The joint delegation of the Syrian National Coalition and the Syrian Negotiating Committee also met with the Norwegian mission to the United Nations, and the joint delegation expressed its appreciation for the efforts made by Norway to issue Resolution 2585 on the entry of humanitarian aid across the border.
