The Civil Defense warns of the seriousness of medical situation in northwestern Syria
The Civil Defense Organization said yesterday evening, Saturday, that the medical situation in the north is still very dangerous, coinciding with the continued registration of new infections with Corona virus.
The Civil Defense Organization added that hospitals and medical centers suffer from a severe shortage of oxygen, in addition to filling all intensive care beds.
The Civil Defense Organization indicated that yesterday, his team transferred 22 deaths from Covid hospitals and buried them with all preventive measures, and transferred 30 cases to quarantine centers and hospitals.
This comes in light of recording more number of coronavirus cases in the regions of northwestern Syria on a daily basis, despite the previous authorities imposing a 15-day curfew.
The total number of coronavirus infections in northwestern Syria has so far reached 85,330 cases, of whom 1,677 have died and 49,098 have recovered.
The camps for the displaced continue to record high rates of infections, bringing the total number of infections within the camps, since the start of the new wave of the pandemic, to 8,296, including 5,381 active cases so far, according to the “Syria Response Coordination Group.”
On October 19, the liberated Idlib Health Directorate delivered 40 oxygen cylinders, more than 200,000 masks, 12,760 sterile overalls, and 3,200 face shields provided by the Civil Defense as part of the medical response to the pandemic.
People in northwestern Syria are unable to purchase medical supplies, including protective masks and sterilizers, due to their high prices, amid the lack of medical support for them.
